I was born Laura Anne
Gierhart in Oxford, England on August 19, 1972.
My mother is a retired church secretary and my dad is a retired Air
Force Colonel and now retired and teaching
part-time at a local college.
I have a younger
brother, Chris, who has a son, Hunter!
Chris is a graduate of Texas A&M University WHOOP! and
is in the US Navy currently stationed at the
Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island in Washington
State. My younger sister, Marni, is a graduate
of the University of Texas (we love her anyway) and
lives and works in Austin with her husband Beto. Marni and Beto Martinez
were married in April 2003. Beto is a member of
Grupo Fantasma.
 Since dad was in the
military we moved around a few times growing up.
I moved with my family from England to Alabama, Ohio,
Virginia and then we settled in Texas. Texas is
where I lived the longest and I claim it as "home"!
I graduated from Douglas
MacArthur High School in 1990 then went on to Dallas
Christian College the following fall. I
majored in Bible with a minor in Early Childhood
Education. I attended two years before I met my
husband of 14 years. We separated in February of
2007.
Jeff and I were foster
parents, and really enjoyed the challenges that it
brought to our life and will never regret the
heartache the experience has brought as well. I
miss my foster daughter, and think of her everyday.

I'd been working
on losing weight until I
found out that I was
pregnant. Debbie has been a life changing
experience. Many things have changed in our life
since she was born. It's been a hard and
confusing road to travel. I currently live
between San Antonio, Texas and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Hopefully we'll day life will settle down to one or
the other. For right now, I'm getting by
day-by-day.
