Poems about Friends
My
First Christmas Card 2008
My first
card came and made my day
Along with a picture that I must say
Never a more beautiful group of blondes
With the exception of Fran and the dog
The Wibles are old friends from Central School
Where we taught the kids to obey the rules
Haven't seen them for a long long time
Many an email has crossed the line
Merry Christmas Frank and Sarah
Faithful Friends
We
looked out our window what do you know
Here comes Bill and Jo
We share the news and all our best jokes
We know each others families and folks
On every occasion they are top of the list
When they are gone in the winter they are really missed
Friends may come and friends may go
There is none like Bill and Jo
Family and Friends
I may meet you almost anywhere
And not seem to know you are there
You may wave across the room or street
Don't feel snubbed if I don't see the way you greet
I will know you when you speak
Your voice is so unique
It has its own special quality
Its very own individuality
You are special in many ways
I am thankful for you every day
To Dr. Hipp
End of a Relationship
The time has come for us to part
Although it nearly breaks my heart
Dr. Heath is very handsome it's true
That doesn't mean we won't miss you
When you retire eventually
Have fun with all your friends and family
Peggy
Our popular preacher's pretty partner
Is a professionally proficient piano player
Particularly patient with other peoples preschoolers
Passionately proud to be a Grandmother
Now has a granddaughter of her own
School Nurse
She has to be a very special person
Keeping track of all those children
She is not very easy to fool
Knows when a kid is just sick of school
At the very first sign of a fever
She makes a call to the mother
Teachers are glad she takes over that task
So they can get back to their restless class
Thanks Ruth Ann
Forever Friends
To Gene I would just like to say
You were often our guide along our way
To Shirley, keep singing so beautifully
Even your laughter is right on key
Mary
Get me to the church in time to hear
Praise hymns with chimes loud and clear
The selection chosen for the prelude
Lifts our spirits and sets the mood
For the service that's coming
Each and every Sunday morning
Thank You, Mary
Chuck-E-Cheese
If you don't already know
Where all the little tykes like to go
Try Chuck-E-Cheese
They can eat pizza and crawl on their knees
Win prizes and squeal as loud as they please
At Chuck-E-Cheese
Sophie was two and we tagged along
Now we know what all goes on
At Chuck-E-Cheese
I hope when I go back to San Antonio
There will be a party so I can go
Back to Chuck-E-Cheese
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday, Mr. Franks
I take this chance to say a belated thanks
For the 15 years on your staff
Many things I remember make me laugh
How we struggled through the new math phase
Those science kits that brightened our days
If there was a crisis and there were a few
We could always depend on support from you
Records show seniors outnumber teens
Better health care is the reason it seems
That has never happened before
You and Adron are helping to maintain that score
Dr. Hipp
We went to the doctor
The doctor decreed
You are both about as healthy as you can be
I told him grandpas BP may be up
He couldn't get his garage door to stay down
He told us a remedy for that situation
With no extra charge for that information
We couldn't wait to give it a test
It really worked, aren't we blessed!
Molly
Molly's grandmother said to her mother
We could go to the z-o-o it's nice weather
Spelling caused Molly a little unease
She said "Don't take me to the doctor please"
Pappy
Our friend tells this human interest story
A good example of parental love and glory
He went to see his small grandchild one day
She was full of questions - How long could he stay?
What was that on his shirt? What did it say?
He told her that was his name written there
So people would know him any where
It says "Pappy", she said in dismay
All his monograms were changed right away
They all just say "Pappy" for the world to see
Looks better than Gary don't you agree?
Note to Dr. Beckham
It's been almost a year
Thanks to you and my Maker I'm still here
You may not quite remember
But It was in that cold November
My life has changed just a little bit
Have some new ways of staying fit
I've given up my very high heels
All those heavy late-night meals
My memory I've noticed is not so keen
Can't thread the needle on my sewing machine
We check the market report--not much to lose
Go to bed right after the news
We are both still in the human race
Just travel at a much slower pace
G. B. Shaw -- If a woman rebels against high-heeled shoes,
She should take
care to do it in a very smart hat.
My Friend Earldene
I needed a friend one day in grade school
She took my hand and she was cool
I had an embarrassing little "accident"
Teacher sent her home with me to help me recover from that
horrible event
All through high school we were together
There was a depression, but it didn't matter
We had lots of girlfriends and boy "friends" too
We never went steady as some girls do
I was homesick in college
Happy for summer and rest from all that knowledge
That was the time we met the men of our dreams
We shared our courtships and wedding schemes
Our vows were simple and very cheap
It took courage to make that leap
The next few years we visited by phone
"Guess what" was often right after "hello"
We shared maternity wardrobes eight times in a row
We were so busy--where did the years go
Retirement became a regular Buffet Club
The Hales joined our group - now we are six
We met at "Moonlight" just for the kicks
We spent many weekends in Kentucky
To have such friends we felt very lucky
They had a spacious home and an open-door policy
A big front porch and a collie dog, Rusty
We enjoyed their church, the meatloaf,
and potato salad, and always--always coconut pie
The best is coming in the by and by
Dr. Hippensteel
My doctor's name is Hippensteel
His main concern is how we feel
He has a pill for every ill
If we're young or over the hill
Of all mans ailments and disabilities
Does the doctor have his own favorite disease?
Jo, My Kindred Spirit
I have a friend who's been a friend forever
Every Wednesday we get together
She's my kindred spirit, I declare
We help each other by just being there
When life gets a little dull and dreary
We go shopping - I love her dearly
An Old Friend
I met an old friend at the Wal-Mart store
We talked and talked and talked some more
We laughed about old times together
The long winter and the horrible weather
The aisles were crowded and not very wide
We had to keep moving from side to side
We finally hugged and went on our way
I thought of her name the very next day
To My Doctor
In your own words I recall
You raised the hood and did a complete overhaul
I've been rejuvenated and reactivated
But since that second open-heart surgery
I've had the urge to write poetry
That has never happened before
Makes me wonder and implore
Did you, sir, on the loose
Inject me with some limerick juice?
